All funds given to applicants will be given for charitable purposes in accordance with charities law and other charity related legislation. This includes all related case law of New Zealand.
We all want healthy and active tribal members. So the Iwi Trust has developed the Sports Grant to support the physical expression of our Ngāti Mutungatanga through excellence in sport.
The focus is on recognised Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri individuals who undertake representative duties for their province or country. Applications are open year-round. The funds are paid to the individual applicant. It is designed to support fees, sporting gear, and travel. Whilst the Pūtea ture outline grant amounts, the Iwi Trust retains total discretion over the amounts to be paid and may vary without notice.

Pūtea Focus
The focus is on recognised Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri sporting clubs and individuals who undertake representative duties for their province or country. Applications are open year round. The funds are paid either to the individual applicant or to the team as a whole. It is designed to support fees, sporting gear, and travel. Whilst the pūtea ture outline grant amounts, the Iwi Trust retains total discretion over the amounts to be paid and may vary without notice.
Up to $250 per person, per annum for national representation in any sporting activity Up to $500 per person, per annum for international representation in any sporting activity
Grants will run each calendar year until funding runs out.
Applications can be submitted at any time during the year. Note the applications will be considered at Trustee hui which normally occur the third week of each month. Your application should be in at least 2 months before the activity is scheduled to begin. You can apply by application form from the Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri Iwi Trust Office (details below).

Tena tatou katoa. There is no more tapu occasion in our collective Iwi life than the death of one of our tribal members. This is a time for mourning, recollection, Whakawhanaungatanga, celebration, and of course manaaki. The Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri Iwi Trust wishes to support our grieving whanau by providing a koha of $500 to support you at your time of loss. The eligibility criteria are set out as follows:

We have been proud to deliver our Kaumātua Pūtea Tautoko, a financial contribution to support our Kaumātua.
Applications will open for this pūtea on 1st of October and close at the end of March 2022.

The Trust will provide secondary school boarding grants to students of Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri descent to attend a boarding school or assist with private boarding while attending a secondary school. The grant is a $750 contribution towards the cost of secondary school students attending a boarding school or the costs of secondary school students privately boarding while attending secondary school.
Applications are open at the beginning of November 2021.
