Notice of Annual General Meeting, Notice of Election and call for Nomination of Trustees

The Annual General Meeting of the Ngati Mutunga o Wharekauri Iwi Trust (the Trust) will commence at 10:00 am on Saturday 27 September 2025 at Whakamaharatanga Marae, Te One, on Wharekauri, Chatham Islands.

All members of the Trust are invited to attend.

The current Trustees of the Ngati Mutunga o Wharekauri Iwi Trust and the expiry of their elected terms are:

  • Wharekauri (Chatham Islands) Trustees – Monique Croon and Deena Whaitiri (2026 AGM), John Preece and Megan Lanauze-King (2027 AGM), Melodie Eruera-Fraser (2025 AGM)
  • Te Ika-a-Maui (North Island Region) – Di Grennell (2027 AGM)
  • Te Waipounamu (South Island Region) – Paula Page (2025 AGM)

Nominations are now sought to fill the following ordinary vacancies on the Trust for a three year term:

  • One Wharekauri representative, previously held by Melodie Eruera-Fraser
  • One Te Waipounamu representative, previously held by Paula Page

Nominations for the Trustee positions open on Thursday 3 July and close at 12 noon on Thursday 24 July 2025. Nominations must be made on the official form available from the Independent Returning Officer by phone on 0800 666 031 or email iro@electionz.com, from the Trust office or from the following links: Te Waipounamu Region or Wharekauri Region.

Each nomination must:

  • be signed by two registered and verified adult members of the Trust.
  • be accompanied by a profile statement and photograph for dispatching with voting papers if an election is required.
  • certify that the candidate has resided and continues to reside in the nomination region that he or she seeks to be a representative of (Wharekauri) for a period of at least three consecutive years or ordinarily resident in Wharekauri; and
    1. advise the Trust of any periods of absence from that region in the past three years, detailing in particular:
      1. the exact dates he or she departed from and returned to that region on each occasion; and
      2. the reason for the period of absence.

New Registrations

The Trust also invites anyone who has not already enrolled, aged 18 years and over and with the appropriate whakapapa, to apply to be included on the Trust’s register. Applications for registration must be received by 12 noon on Thursday 24 July 2025.

Existing members are encouraged to update their contact details with the Trust if there have been any changes.
